Title I

Title I Information – What Our Families Need to Know

Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended recently as the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), provides financial assistance to public schools with a high percentage of families that qualify for the free and reduced lunch program. The purpose of Title I is to provide all children “significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps.” Title I funds are used to improve academic achievement and enhance family engagement.
