Principal Letter Regarding School Closure

Dear AVS Families;

Superintendent of Schools, William Rearick, has made the decision to close the Auburn Village School beginning Monday, March 16, 2020 for a period of two weeks. In anticipation of this closing, teachers have created distance learning school work for students to complete. Students in Kindergarten through grade 3 will have learning bags with twelve days of learning activities. Grade 3 students will also have Google Classroom activities. Students in grades four through eight will access their learning activities online.

The K-3 learning bags include reading, writing and math supplies along with directions in a jumbo Ziploc bag. The teachers are also posting more specific directions with accompanying videos on our school website. Chromebooks and chargers are available for students in grades 3-8 to take home for use during the school closure. Most of our Chromebooks were distributed on Friday; however, those students who were absent can pick them up at school.

AVS will be open for families to pick up learning bags, Chromebooks and chargers at the following times:

Sunday, March 15 10:00am -2:00pm On Sunday, all bags and Chromebooks will be available in the cafeteria, please come through the back lobby.

Monday, March 16 8:00am – 3:00pm On Monday, please use the main entrance and we will have the remainder of the bags and Chromebooks in the main office.

Online learning materials will be available on the school website beginning Monday morning, March 16, 2020. If you need assistance accessing these materials, please reach out to our AVS Helpdesk via auburn.helpdesk@sau15.net. Teachers will also be available each Monday – Friday from 10:00am – 12:00pm and 4:00pm – 6:00pm via email for questions regarding learning activities. If your child is having any difficulty completing the assignments, please reach out to the appropriate teacher for guidance.

Sarah Belanger, Food Service Director, has been in contact with the Candia and Chester Food Pantries. If you need assistance providing food for your family during this time, please call the Chester food pantry directly at 603-887-4626.

This is a learning opportunity for all of us. I am confident that we can work together as a community to successfully navigate this new experience. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this very trying time. Please contact me at 603-483-2769 x1002 or lcollins@sau15.net with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Lori Collins
Principal
