Third Grade Service Project

The third grades thought about how difficult this pandemic has been for the homeless and reached out to their third grade neighbor, Terry Everett. Terry Everett is the founder of Anchors in Hope, a nonprofit that supports the homeless. Third graders collected items needed by the homeless (toothbrushes, deodorant, travel size items, gloves, socks). Then the students decorated brown paper lunch bags with positive quotes from the civil rights leaders they learned about, as well as other uplifting quotes and stuffed bags with a few items. Terry mentioned how she thought the quotes on the bags written by the kids were even more special than what was inside to those recipients.

Terry delivered the bags to the homeless directly and came to the third grade classrooms and to share just how happy they were to receive their care packages, this really helped the third graders understand just how much they can make a difference in someone’s life!
